Two famous Yorkton entrepreneurs were honoured for their service to the community by the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce.
George Gallagher and Dick DeRyk were both inducted into the chamber as Honourary Life Members at a luncheon at the Ramada Hotel on Broadway Street.
Gallagher, 87, has made several contributions to the community through his work in radio and city council. He has also donated a total of $1 million to the Gallagher Centre.
Gallagher was unable to receive the award in person. His children accepted the plaque on his behalf.

鈥淚 think it鈥檚 great,鈥 said Kelly Gallagher, George鈥檚 son. 鈥淚 think for Dad it鈥檚 significant.鈥
Kelly and his sister thanked the chamber for inducting their father as a life member.
鈥淗is best memories are in Yorkton,鈥 Kelly said. 鈥淗is heart always belongs here.
Dick DeRyk has been involved in countless businesses across Yorkton, including Uncommon Sense Solutions and Yorkton This Week.
鈥淭his is not something you work for,鈥 DeRyk said, referring to the induction. 鈥淚鈥檝e done the things I鈥檝e done because they鈥檝e provided a livelihood for my family.
鈥淏ut it really is nice to be recognized for the contributions you鈥檝e made.鈥
During his acceptance speech, DeRyk noted how he still has many projects he wants to do.
鈥淭he mind wants to keep active,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 want to keep busy.
鈥淎s long as it鈥檚 fun, why would you quit?鈥
