Most days in June were warm except for a weekend in the second half of the month as a low pressure system brought cold air and rain, according to monthly weather statistics from Environment Canada.

Meteorologist Crawford Luke says between June 21 and 23 the low pressure system had cool air, bringing temperatures down closer to historical averages.

Regina and Yorkton, of example, recorded an average temperature of 15.7 degrees during the month, which is 0.2 and 0.1 degrees from normal respectively. Key Lake was the only spot to deviate the most at 1.8 degrees below normal with an average temperature of of 11.5 degrees.

Not only did the low pressure system bring cold air that weekend, it also brought rain as Luke explains the west-central area got the most over the course of three days.

Luke said North Battleford had 31.3 millimetres (mm) recorded and Lucky Lake had 72.5 mm from the system.

"Definitely if you were in western Saskatchewan close to the Alberta border that was where we saw the highest amounts from that system, otherwise it was kind of a widespread 20 millimetres or so depending on where you were." Luke said.

For the entire month, North Battleford had 93 millimetres of precipitation, which is 155 per cent above normal, Prince Albert also had above normal rain at 93.7 mm and Saskatoon was just above average at 78.4 mm. Regina had 46.8 mm and Yorkton 69.2 mm, both are below their respective averages.

Areas like Estevan, Key Lake, Moose Jaw, and Swift Current were dry and recorded between 20 and 40 per cent of normal precipitation.

Looking ahead, Luke says the next few days will have mix of sunny, hot days with cooler, wet days.

Precision Weather is expecting a high on Wednesday of 33 degrees before cooling down to the low 20s over the two days with no more than a 40% chance of rainfall on Friday.
